Ajia Da’Shae Matthews was born on October 23, 1995, and passed away on October 17, 2009 due to a medical condition. Though she was only 14, Ajia was a person who loved looking at life in color. She was not afraid of what the future had in store for her because she looked at it with excitement and knew that it would be great. Ajia enjoyed learning and writing poetry, music, dancing, meeting new people and she had a deep love for her church, Integrity Life Church (ILC). She invited her friends and family to come visit her church all the time. Family and friends remember her face always having a smile.
After her passing Ajia’s mother, Kaisianna Robinson, felt that a scholarship in her memory would be a wonderful way to have her daughter’s legacy live on through one of her favorite places, ILC. In the Fall of 2010 the Ajia Matthews Educational Scholarship Fund (AMESF) was established. Since this time it has helped several youth go on to pursue their educational dreams from college to mission trips, and even to invitation only educational seminars. The AMESF looks to help the youth of today achieve their dreams of tomorrow through financial help toward higher education. Ajia’s positive attitude on life is what we promote. You can achieve your dreams so long as you are willing to try.
